The line chart provides information about the international food and oil price shift over a period of 11 years (2000-2011).
Overall, as can be seen from the chart, the two figures underwent multitudes of erratic fluctuations. While the food index hit the peak at the end of the period, the oil price was highest in an interval between 2008 and 2009.
The money spent on buying food reached circa 90 points in 2000; subsequently, it experienced positive growth. However, in 2002, abruptly there was a decline in the points. For the next eight years, the food price index climbed constantly and encountered another fall in 2009. After that, it rocketed rapidly, reaching almost 240 points in 2011.
On the other hand, at the beginning of the period, the ratio of oil price was higher than that of food. Nevertheless, in those ensuing years, its proportion kept being outraced by the other counterpart. Only in two years 2006-2007 and about 2008 did the oil price figure exceed the food index. Throughout those other years, it was overshadowed again despite having quite similar patterns with the other.
