The given line graph illustrates the ratio of people who was aged 65 and over from 1940 to 2040 in Japan, Sweden and America.
What stands out from the line graph is that both three different countries had a upward trend. In addition, Japan saw a period of having the smallest percentage of these people before it is predicted to rocket at the end of period.
In 1940, starting at a quite high point, America rank the first with about 9 percent, following by Sweden and Japan with lower proportion with roughly 7% and 5% respectively. Over the period of 40 years, USA was still the country with the highest percentage and bounced to less than a fifth. While Sweden leapt considerably to around 14% at the same point as America, Japan declined slightly to roughly 3 percent before witnessing a steady in more than 40 years.
Besides, Sweden is forecasted to overtake America to become the nation with the highest proportion of the elderly at about 19% during the period between 2020 and 2040. Both America and Japan are expected to have a significant surge to around 14 percent and 10 percent respectively. In the final stage of prediction, there is a dramatical change when Japan has an anticipation to rocket to more than a quarter. Furthermore, Sweden is also estimated to reach the second with 25 percent. It is America that is anticipated to soar to roughly 23%.
