The pie charts compare the proportion of water consumption for three different objectives in six regions in the globe .
It is noticeable that in developing areas including Asia regions, Africa and South America , water use for agriculture dominates other purposes. Meanwhile, in more developed regions, water for industrial use makes up the largest percentage of the total water consumption . In contrast , water for household use has the lowest ratio.
Looking at more details, the proportion of water consumption in Central Asia was the biggest among the four developing areas, stands at 80%, followed by the figures for Africa and South East Asia, which are 84% and 81 % respectively . The water use for household reason ranks second in almost regions above, ranging from 7% to 19%, except for South East Asia where the figure is 5% smaller than the one for the industry.
In more wealthy countries, the consumption of water for industry zone is similarly about a half of the overall usage, particularly with 48% in North America and 53% in Europe . On the other hand, in North America, the percentage of water used for agriculture sector is three times greater than for domestic one while the discrepancy in Europe is over twice .
