IELTS General Training - Writing Task 1

Work is being done on the street where you live. The noise is disturbing you.

Write a letter of complaint to your local council. In your letter,

A)Introduce yourself,
B)Explain what the problem is,
C)Suggest solutions to the problem

Write at least 150 words.

Dear Sir, Madam

By way of introduction, my name is Aida Serikova and I live in house 4 in Kenesary Street. I bought this flat, because I was attracted by its location in a pristine and residential street. Yet my positive living experience didn't last long.

I am writing to complaint about the constant noise coming from the construction work on the parallel street. It seems the work is carried out 24 hours. I have a small baby who is not able to fall asleep due to the load construction noise at night. Lack of sleep stresses the whole family out. I'm sure there are other families affected by the noise.

Can you please speak with the company and agree on the timing for major work to be carried out. Particularly, no construction from 8pm to 9am. If required, I am ready to represent the voice of other families in the discussion. If you do not take this forward to resolve, I will have to raise my concern with the local authorities including the police.

We may not need to escalate the issue as I have full confidence that you will take care of the complaint and do everything what's required to resolve the situation.

I look forward to hearing a positive response from you soon.
Regards,
Aida
