Some people say that the only way to learn a new language is moving to the country where the language is spoken.
What do you think about that?
It is argued by some that to learn a new language it is necessary to live in the region where that new language is spoken. As far as I am concerned, living abroad is a great way to learn a new language, however people also can learn it on their own country by taking classes, studying online and watching TV. The following paragraphs will discuss these ideas.
Living abroad is a excellent way to learn a new language. Individuals who live abroad have the opportunity to interact with native speakers on the daily basis, which helps them to develop the ability to speak a second language. For example, when I used to leave in France I did not speak any French, however I start doing thing like talk to locals, go to the grocery by myself, drive around the city, and all these things helped me to become a French speaker. Besides, people also can take language classes when they are living abroad, this helps them even more with the challenge of learning a new language. Some countries, such as Canada, USA, Australia and South Africa have become the main destinations for pupils who want to learn how to speak english because it is easy to find school specialized on teaching english to foreigners. This all clearly show that another language other than our own can be learned when we decide to live overseas.
At their own country people can learn a new language at schools, online or/ and watching TV. In many countries it is possible to find second language schools for locals. These schools have teachers who are dedicate their time teaching a new language to whoever wants to stand out from rest of the population and learn something new. For example, in Brazil if you have english as your second language you are considered a more qualified worker than the others who do not speak english. Additionally, another way to learn is online. Nowadays there are a variety of resources available online, such as classes on YouTube, chats with native speakers, and games that challenge students by asking them question related to the language. Moreover, another helpful tool is the television. People can watch movies and TV shows presented by artists who speak the language that the they want to learn. This is also a fun way to learn. For example, the TV show the “Big Bang Theory” is watched by many Brazilians who wants to speak english, and according to them the reason they prefer learning english like that is because they easily learn when they are having fun. Learning a new language might be challenge, but it is possible be done on our own country on different ways
In conclusion, dealing with native speakers personally on the daily basis is likely to be very helpful when it comes to learning a new language, however it does not mean that this is the only way to learn a new language. This essay showed that classes, internet and television are great tools to help people on this learning journey, even when they decide not to move abroad.
