Recently, it seems that more people tend to migrate than ever before. Whereas many individuals concede that immigrants should adapt to a new culture in the foreign nation, it is believed by others that living as a separate minority group with an unlike lifestyle is the way that they should live. From my observation, much as each point of view has its own benefits, the immigrants should admit regulations in their new region.
On the one hand, if non-native residents keep their traditions and live together in a small community, they will not suffer from homesickness and the community is able to help them in any difficult situations. It is undeniable that when newcomers settle in a new country, they will face a lot of hardships, which make them feel depressed and exhausted. Thus, the presence of a person or a group who can share their stories and give them a hand is vitally crucial. This makes them become more vigorous and minimizes the feeling of nostalgia.
On the other hand, notwithstanding the aforementioned advantage of establishing a minority society, adopting the cultural changes in a new place enables immigrants to enhance social cohesion. It is irrefutable to note that the inhabitants of a nation take pride in their own cultural features. Consequently, if an outsider refuses their culture and has a sign showing a lack of respect for native cultures, the residents will feel irrigated and isolated an outsider. Furthermore, exposure to other cultures is also beneficial to settlers as it broadens their knowledge and horizons. To illustrate, most of the students who study abroad feel culture shock at the country that they are moving to. Nevertheless, after a long time changing their lifestyle in such a way that appreciates the social norms of their adopted region, they will find common characteristics with the locals and widen their minds concerning their foreign nations.
To summarize, albeit merits related to living as a separate minority group, it is assumed that living in a new country and conforming to the standards of behavior will improve the integration of newcomers into society and deepen their perspective about the non-native region in general and the cultures in specific.
