3. Say what you will do to compensate

Dear Mr Smith,

I am writing with reference to last staff meeting held on Tuesday to discuss company’s action plan post lockdown. Although, I understand that the meeting was quite crucial and important, I was not able to attend it due to a medical emergency.

First of all, I would like to apologise for not being part of the discussion, which is necessary for the future functioning of the company. I have already requested the copy of the minutes, so that I can go through all the views exchanged and steps taken for the betterment of the company. If it won’t be extremely urgent, I would have never missed an opportunity to be part of the meeting.

Let me explain the reason to you in detail, As I was getting ready enthusiastically to join the meeting, I got a phone call from my mother informing me that my dad has suffered a heart attack and there was nobody to help her take him to the hospital. Hence I had to rush so that I can admit my dad to the hospital in time.

Even though I was not present in the meeting, I promise you that I will go through all the minutes of the meeting and accordingly mail you my suggestions on how can we overcome the challenges and hurdles which we will face after lockdown. I commit you that by the end of the week will send you list of the action plan even if, I have to work overtime or on Sunday to complete it.

Hope you will understand my situation and forgive me this time.

Yours faithfully,

Robinson Samuel.
