Dear Mr Robson,

I am writing with regards my absence from the project update meeting held last week.

I want to apologize for not being able to make it to the meeting. I fully understand the importance of this meeting in terms of the upcoming project schedule and want to ensure you that my absence was due to certain unavoidable reason.

As I was on my way to the main office for the meeting, I got hit by a car from the rear at the big roundabout. Thankfully there were no injuries or any major damages, but getting all the insurance formalities sorted out, took a long time. As a result, by the time I was done with all the paperwork, it was already way past the meeting time.

I have already got in touch with John Doe from our team who attended the meeting and had a full download of all the highlights of the meeting. I will have my updates ready on Monday for you to review.

I want to reiterate my continued commitment to this project and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Yours sincerely,
John Doe
