Essay topics:

A friend has written to you asking for advice about a problem at work. You have had a similar problem in the past.
Write a reply to your friend. In your letter:

Tell your friend you understand the problem.
explain what happened to you in the past.
suggest possible solutions to the problem.

Dear Sam,

Received your letter about issues you are having at work, do not stress about it, as it is quite common and happened to me as well.

I totally understand that there are times when we have disagreements with our colleagues about work related matters. It is bound to happen that your perspective on how to deal with a problem will differ from that of others.

In fact, I was in a similar position when I was working on my previous project. My team mate and I had differing views on how to proceed with the testing protocols for our latest product line. He wanted an extended suite of tests while I was pitching for a more focused approach to meet timelines.

What has worked for me in such situations, is to have an honest and fact based discussion about the problem at hand, you will be surprised at how much that helps. Other thing you can do, is get opinion from a broader group that both you and your colleague respects, as having a different set of eyes looking at a problem sometimes works wonders.

Hopefully these tips will help resolve your problem.

Take care,
John Doe
