You are due to start a new job next week but you will not be able to because you have some problems. Write a letter to your new employer. In your letter•Explain your situation•Describe your problems•Tell him/her when you think you can start
Dear Sir,
Firstly I would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused by me. To elucidate, I had an online interview where my candidature was accepted and subsequently, I was offered an appointment letter with joining on 1st of March 2019 however due to some personal problems I may not be able to join next week. Let me briefly explain.
As you are aware that I am currently staying in LA and needed to relocate to NY for this offered position however there has been an unexpected delay from my relocation company I had hired. The mover company had promised to get the relocation done by the end of this week however there has been a shortage of labour which is causing the delay. Additionally, the place where I am supposed to move in NY does not have a nearby elementary school for my daughter so this is causing an additional delay.
Although I can understand that you were expecting me to onboard by next week however I would need an additional week to close the pending matters. Lastly, I would be able to join by 2nd week of April.
I hope you will approve of the above request.
Yours sincerely
Saud
