You are going to another country to study. You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying, so you want to ask a friend who lives there for some help.

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter

give details of your study plans
explain why you want to get a part-time job
suggest how your friend could help you find a job

Dear Sam,

I am delighted to inform you that I have been accepted at the University of Toronto MBA program. I will soon apply for the visa. My classes will start on 29th February and I will arrive in Toronto on the 20th of February 2018. Orientation will be held on 22nd Feb 2018.

Being an international student I will be legally allowed to work 20 hours part-time. As you know my family is supporting my full studies and I do not want to become an additional burden on them. Therefore, I want to work part-time to meet additional expenses such as food, accommodation, commute, clothing, and utilities. This will also help me to understand the cultural difference and working ethics of the host country. Since you have recently got your permanent residence in Canada you can help me in finding out a reasonable part-time job. For this, I would like you to read local newspapers and gather data regarding walk-in interviews for part-time vacancies. Once I am in Toronto I will personally visit them for the interviews. Moreover, you can send them my resume (attached) to potential employers with your address on it; this will ensure greater chances of landing a job.

I am just so excited to meet you soon.

Warm regards,

Farrukh.
