Essay topics:

You live in a room in college which you share with another student. You find it very difficult to work there because he or she always has friends visiting. They have parties in the rooms sometimes borrow your things without asking you.

Write a letter to accommodation officer at the college and ask for a new room next term. You would prefer a single room and explain your reasons.

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Olivia, my student number is 10095692. I am currently living in the Resident zone one. I have shared the room with my roommate, Cathy for approximately four months. There are quite a lot of issues that happened for the past four months. We have established a set of rules in terms of cleanliness, tidiness, and privacy but my roommate has failed to follow the established rules which makes it very unpleasant to live under the same roof with her.

Things such as cleaning up dishes, taking out your own garbage, or keeping the common area clean and tidy are totally not followed and ignored. She sometimes brought her boyfriend overnight which made me extremely uncomfortable as I do not enjoy seeing someone that I do not know in my room. Moreover, she sometimes borrowed my stuff but did not return it at all. Even though we have had a discussion about these issues, it seems like there is no improvement from her side at all.

To prevent further complications and any sort of issues that I may have with a roommate. I would like to request to transfer to a different room just by myself. I am sorry for any inconvenience that I have caused for you ahead of time.

Yours faithfully,

Olivia Nguyen.
