Overall, It is clear that the Mont-Blanc Road tunnel is much longer than Seikan Railway tunnel and while Mont-Blanc Road is through the mountain, Seikan Railway tunnel is located below the strait.
Obviously, The length of Mont-Blanc Road tunnel is 11.6 km and it took 8 years for the installation from 1957. Additionally this tunnel links between two countries of France and Italia through a mountain which has the height of 3.5 km.
However, The construction of Seikan railway appears to be more complicated and took more time than Mont-Blanc Road. The construction time for Seikan Railway is six times longer (42 years). The total length is 53.85 km, connecting two cities of Hakodate and Aomori, located in Hokkaido and Japanese Islands respectively. Besides, the railway lies underneath the Tsugaru Strait with the distance of 240m.
