In many countries, there is not enough recycling for waste materials (e.g. paper, can, glass). What are the reasons of this situation? What can be done to encourage recycling?
There is a tendency that recycling waste materials has been paid little attention in many countries. This essay will examine the underlying reasons for this problem and propose some plausible solutions.
The inadequate advanced machinery and inappropriate classification of domestic waste are the plausible factors restraining recycling processes. First and foremost, numerous households across the globe are more inclined to discard a mix of plastic bags and leftovers into the same bin without having an appropriate classification method, making it challenging for recycling since plastic and glass containers cannot be recycled with bacteria stemming from decaying vegetables and fruits. Additionally, financial hardships facing many underdeveloped countries have restricted their access to technological advancements for waste recycling. For example, in some parts of India, people are struggling with plastic waste due to the shortage of advanced machines for recycling, leaving them surrounded by trash.
Despite the problems mentioned above, there are practical solutions to address the issue. Firstly, governments can provide residents with guidelines on the classification of domestic waste before disposal. These guidelines can be accompanied by strict penalties for deliberate non-compliance to ensure the effectiveness of such instructions. Furthermore, governments across the globe should offer lower-income nations advanced machines and techniques for waste treatment. This can reduce the burden on those countries and prompt them to focus on recycling for a more sustainable environment.
In conclusion, although the lack of technological advances and inappropriate classification methods can challenge the process of recycling waste materials, there are plausible resolutions to this phenomenon. International aid and practical guidelines can facilitate recycling in many countries.
