Task 1 - Test 8 - Cambridge 12
The diagram highlights the process by which geothermal energy is harnessed so as to generate electricity, with five steps in the process, from consuming cold water to supplying electricity to the national grid.
The first step is to hold the abundance of cold water in the reservoir above the ground. Once being pumped roughly 4.5 Kilometer down, cold water is injected well into horizontal hot rocks called Geothermal Zone. After passing this area, the hot water is well ready for the next step in which it is pumped up around 4.5 km, and then entered into the Condenser.
Turning to the structures on the ground, the condenser produces the high pressure steam. To generate the power for the generator, the turbine is rotated by the steam. Finally, the generator produce electricity for the national grid.
Overall, it is interesting point that how we are able to provide electricity in a green process (by using Geothermal power plant) from the cold water.
