Nowadays pictures have become an integral part of the news stories covered by print and broadcast media. Pictures certainly grab quick attention of the readers and viewers. In my opinion pictorial representation is a great way to convey news story effectively. I agree with the people who say that pictures are more effective than words.
Any news story accompanied with pictures not only grab immediate attention but it also plays a vital role in connecting emotions. A picture depicting the effect of flood easily communicate pain and sorrow of the people stuck in the flooded area. Pictorial representation not only impact us emotionally, but it also allows us to choose our interest areas. To illustrate, I am a big fan of Kareena Kapoor. Any news which contains her pictures immediately attracts me and I can not stop watching the news stories till the end. Human visual memory is more sensitive, hence whenever we see a picture, it grabs our attention immediately. This is the reason why we are able to recall events when we see related pictures.
When I was a kid, I was always fascinated by the Sunday new paper edition. The colorful images had always attracted me, and I used to read the entire kids section. In my view stories accompanied by pictures, can spark interest in kids. This is an effective way to make them aware of what is happening in and around the world.
We are blessed that our journalist playing an important role, by not showing offensive content on TV or newspaper. Also, they have taken complete responsibility that their words are matching what they are portraying by pictures.
I must say a picture can speak a thousand words. To summarize, I believe that pictures associated with news stories have a long-lasting impact on our mind. They also make stories interesting and more comprehensive.
