In some countries, people prefer to rent a house for accommodation, while in other countries people prefer to buy their own house. Does renting a house have more advantages or disadvantages than buying a house?

We live in an age when renting house is more common activity in comparison with past. Some people believe that rented house is better option while others claim the opposite view.

Generally, in developing countries like Turkey, Algeria, or Azerbaijan, large majority of citizens tend to rent a house rather than buying one because of slow economic growth. Nonetheless, over past few decades, people began to rent apartment houses instead o buying one in all countries. According to economists, number of households in rented houses has increased so much. In addition to this clear point, I have read an article that contains a bar chart that illustrates how percentage of households in rented house, in particular countries, has changed, and according to the chart, rented houses draw attention as most preferred accommodation type. However, in my honest opinion, rented households have both positive and negative outcomes.

Starting with advantages, nowadays, majority of people work in international companies; therefore, there is a possibility that one might be transferred to another department in foreign country. For this reason, rented house is more beneficial because you would be able to move to another apartment in some cases such as unsatisfactory house conditions and neighborhood. In addition to this, it is easier to rent accommodation near workplace than possess property.

When it comes to the disadvantages, rented apartment do not allow residents feel like home and also people are not allowed to settle down permanently in rented accommodation. Moreover, in some countries, especially poor countries, prices of rents are flexible which means prices can vary according to economic growth as it is not a piece of cake for someone to purchase his/her own property. In contrast to renters, house owners should put their houses on sale if they are unsatisfied with their home conditions which requires so much effort.

To sum up, comparing rented and owned houses, I believe that renting house is far more cost-efficient and more practical; therefore, I definitely recommend people who work in a job that has flexible strategy to rent a house rather than purchasing one.
