The great majority of people, especially students have experienced a situation that a teacher or lecture says something incorrect. There are some ways to react to this event. Some people react nothing, some people will tell this subject in a private talking with lecturer, and some people interrupt the lecturer and mention the correc point. As far as I am concerned, the last option is the best action. I will explain my reasons in ensuing paragraphs.
To begin with, most of the people learn and obtain their knowledge by being in class or meeting. In better words, They will accept their teachers or meeting leaders words. If a person learn an incorrect subject in class and she never know the correct subject, it would be harmful for that person or society. For instance, I studied economics in university. Once, my macroeconomics professor states that economist believe that there is no relationship between money and price index base on the monetary schools. I knew, his words was incorrect, but I never told him. A few days later, I saw an article from my microeconomic class about the monetary school and he exactly repeated that error. In better words, this incorrect thought was spreading among people even policy makers. Therefore, it is necessary to correct lecturer when she is telling something incorrect.
In addition, although some lecturer will be unhappy when we correct their wrong words, they finally will admit that this correction will help them. In other words, some teachers tell some incorrect stuff for years, since students never correct her. While if somebody states the teacher error, she is able to correct this and never repeats it again. Thus, the lecturer might be sad for our statement specially in a public place, but she will be happy that she never repeat it again.
Last but not least, some people do not spend enough time for being ready as a teacher or meeting leader. In better words, they never mind about the students’ and audiences’ time and mind. They just want to do their work carelessly. There is an important solution for solving this problem. We should alarm these people error in front of others, these notifications will be useful for them to prepared better for teaching and speaking. For instance, we had a history teacher in high school and he told us some incorrect materials and we did not mind. One day, we decided to correct his errors consequently. After just few sessions, he never stated incorrect things and he became the best history teacher in our city.
All in all, I think it is essential to correct people specially teachers and meeting leaders when they tell something incorrect. Of course, we should do this activity in a respectful manner.
