COMICS
The author of the reading believes that the comic medium is a unique american art form, because he explain that a lot of comic and comics strip in the world were a American origins. Some examples of this were Hogan Alley comic strips, action comic about superman and the Asian comic called manga.
First of all the professor in the audio explain that the writer was wrong about some points in the lecture. Is it mentioned that the comic strips of Hogan Alley was about inmingrants who went to America for a better life and tell the history of that perspective.
Secondly, the author contends that action comics like superman were American popular comics and has fame for being only American, but the real author of this comics was Canadian. Super was published in America several years after Tin Tin and others popular comic strips of Europe in 80`s and 90`.
Finally, the professor states that strips comic about smurf has a purest European style, in the case of Japanese comic called manga most of experts thinks was inspired mostly in the ancient Asian art and not in american comic like the writer claims, Disney character depends of the continent for the style and the author.
In conclusion, the lecture and the reading are both about a investigation about the comic medium, the evolution in the history, the difentes style in the world and the lecture claims is not a unique americna art form. The comic is an art that belong to the world in general.
