dinosaurs
Both the reading and the listening discuss whether the dinosaurs were endotherm or not. THe former argues three points to prove the dinosaurs were endotherms where the latter contradicts each of the points made by the author.
First of all. the author contends that, fossile found in the polar regions of dinosaurs indicates that the dinosaurs were endotherm since only the endothermal animal can maintain it's body temperature above the surrounding. In contrast, the lecturer argues that, the environmental condition when the dinosaurs lived were not the same as today but were much more warmer then the present condition. He adds that, the dinosaurs also could migrate or hibernate like most of the presen day reptile to avoid the cold temerature during the cold period.
Secondly, the text claims that, the leg position and movement of the dinosaurs resembled the presenday's endotherm animals since they had the leg beneth the body weight for running efficiently. However, the lecturer rebuts that, this is not necessarely the expalination to have leg just below the body to prove the dinosaurs were endotherms since the leg could the funcationize to hold the large body of the dinosaurs so that they can have verious advantage from their other counter animals.
Finally, the author asserts that, since the dinosaurs bone structure contained Haversian canals that indicate the rapid growth of the dinosaurs and it is also available to the present days endothermal animals, the dinosaurs were endothermal like them. On the other hands, the lecturer counters that, dinosaurs bone showed a different pattern of growth as the growth region had some thick period followed by the thin period which indicates that the dinosaurs bone although had Haversian canals they stopped or slowed down their grouth during the cold period that are an indication that the dinosours were not the endotherm.
