Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
In order to be well-informed, a person must get information from many different news resources.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer
Today there are lots of press and mass media which one of their central goals is broadcasting the local or even international news. Every day we are bombarding by different news stream and it is crucial to receive correct and precise information. In this respect, some people hold the view that in order to be well-informed, you should get information from different news resources. I strongly agree with this statement due to some reasons. In the following paragraphs, I will elaborate on my viewpoint through three outstanding reasons.
The most significant reason that supports my idea regarding the aforementioned issue is that most of the news resources, especially political news, are managed by specific political parties and their commentator's viewpoint toward some news is somewhat biased and they take the side of their own party. For example, two years ago, during covering the news about a suicide attack in Paris, some news resources attributed it to their rival party but it was totally groundless. This misleading information forms an incorrect mindset in the audience. The best way in order to avoid this happening is by getting information from different news resources and then compare it with the interpretations of neutral authentic resources.
One should also consider the fact that the news world also has a competitive atmosphere in which some resources are greedy about attracting more audiences as it has financial benefits for them. In this respect, yellow presses are a good example. these resources cover the news in an unprofessional and unethical way. For example, they use eye-catching headlines mostly about financial or ethical scandals of politicians in order to increase their sales. These resources mostly exaggerate the news and do not have any authentic sources. Again the best way for identifying these resources and avoiding their trap is getting information from different news resources. By getting information from different resources people gradually would distinguish between authentic and inauthentic resources and would be well-informed.
The last but not the least point to be mentioned is that different news sources have a different perspective. For example, some of them interpret the news and events in detail but another resource considers events as a whole. Some of the commentators consider only the political aspects behind each news. However, some others take into account the scientific or even psychological aspects besides political aspects. Also, each news resource covers a specific field for example politic, sciences, sports and etc. using different news resources not only help people to interpret news from different perspectives but also it provides a good opportunity for them to enhance their knowledge in different areas and broaden their horizon.
In conclusion, since the news station are not always impartial and have political biases, and sometimes deliberately exaggerate the news it is more beneficial for people to get the information from different resources. This also helps them to enhance their knowledge and give them a better perspective. In this regard, governments have a pivotal role in order to make these news resources accessible to all people.
