The reading passage concentrates on three theories that illustrate Pterosaurs could not fly. On the other hand, the professor refutes these theories due to following reasons.
First, even though the reading passage states that the Pterosaurs were cold-blooded and they could not fly since only warm-blooded birds can, the speaker contends that as evidenced by fossil records, there is fur covering on the body of Pterosaurs which elucidates they were warm-blooded and they use this mechanism in order to protect themselves on different weather circumstances.
Second, despite the statement in the reading passage that the Pterosaurs did not have adequate power to fly due to their heavy weight, the lecturer claims that the anatomic features of Pterosaurs reveals the fact that the Pterosaurs were light since their bones were hollow compared to other birds and in this way, they could flap easily and their weight was not a restriction for them.
Finally, the reading passage explains that the Pterosaurs did not have powerful muscles in their back legs similar to other birds in order to take off. Conversely, the speaker points out that the Pterosaurs just did not use the back leg in order to take off and they used all their four legs in order to run quickly and also, take off from the land.
