The Little Ice Age
Both the lecture and the passage discusses the possible explanation for the little ice age. The passage provides three main causes of the ice age. however, the lecturer says that the causes that the passage takes to explain the ice age are outdated.
To begin, the author says that the disruption of the ocean current was responsible for the ice age. The colder glacier melted down prior to the ice age as at that time there was an unusually warm climate. Consequently, the clod melted glacier cooed down the gulf stream resulting in cold climate throughout the world at that time. however, the lecturer says that the new information suggests only the colder part of Europe and North America were possible to cool down. An explanation for the cooldown for South Africa and New Zealand was not congruous with the cause. So disruption of the ocean current cause does not hold water.
Another futile point of the passage is the volcanic eruption. it is true that volcanic eruption can cause the cooler climate as it dusts and sulfur shroud the sky. But, for this phenomenon, many of the dust and sulfur are required however the condition is not possible. If it had happened, there would have been clear cut signs such as visible colorful sunsets and gray color snow. again, the passage seems weak to define the cause of the ice age.
Lastly, the forest growth at that time for the ice age is not plausible. the forest does suck carbon dioxide from the atmosphere however the time period for the intense cooldown is not enough. The human again replicates the same population once they had. they began to clear out the land and used the land for their purpose. Therefore, the argument seems again baseless.
