Essay topics:

The minimum wage is set by the government and is the lowest hourly wage a business can pay an employee. For example, if the minimum wage of a country is $5.25 per hour, then businesses cannot pay their employees any less than this. However, because of the many disadvantages that the minimum wage has caused for businesses and workers, minimum wage laws should be abolished.
First, the minimum wage makes workers too expensive for some businesses, especially smaller businesses. If the minimum wage is set at $5.25 and a small business owner can only afford to hire someone at $5.00 an hour, both are at a disadvantage because of the minimum wage. The business owner cannot hire as many workers as he or she likes. Also, potential workers for that business remain unemployed. For this reason, minimum wages can raise unemployment rates.
In addition, the minimum wage encourages larger businesses to move their production out of one country and into another. Since some foreign countries may not have minimum wage laws, labor in these countries can cost much less than labor in a country with such laws in place. This can ultimately hurt the parent country because many larger businesses choose to relocate to a foreign country, removing a number of jobs in the process.
Finally, the minimum wage encourages companies to purchase machine technology that can replace workers. If it is less expensive for a company to purchase an automated machine to do a task than it is to pay an employee to do the same job, the business will undoubtedly purchase the machine. If the cost of labor remains low, however, companies are less likely to replace workers with automated machine systems.

The article asserts that the minimum wage law has a negative effect on employment rate, employers , and whole economy, then it should be abolished. However the professor does not believe so and avers that minimum wage does not effects not only employment rate negatively, but also the employers. She thinks that this law should keep on.
First, the reading material states that the minimum wage law makes many buisness unprofitable through making the employees more expensive, specially small buisnesses, consequentely it cause a decrease in employment rate, which is not good for economy. On the other hand, the lecturer refutes this points by saying that data shows that niether before nor after applying this law unemployment rate affected. She mentions that there is no difference between employment rate before and after the law. Hence, this law doees not have any positive or negative effect on economy only by itself.
Second, the author claims that minimum wage law cause larger companies move to other countries where they do not have this mandatory law. It mentions that it affects the first country's economy negatively. Conversely, the professor repudiates this idea and explains that it is true that companies move to another country, but it is not because of minimum wage law. If they prefer to move to another country, the lower living cost in those countries encourage them. She avers that this minimum wage law does not have any impact on this movement.
Third, the passage posits that this law motivate companies to repalce labore with machine technology, everywhere it is possible for them. It concluds that if wage remains low, companies do not use those machines and they hire more workers. Controversially, the lecturer opposes this by mentioning that using machine technology does absolutly not have any impact on the hiring of workers. She believes that companies look at the saving benefit of this approach to use machines. She says that minimum wage law does certainely not have negative effect on employment.
