ORGANIC FOOD
According to the Reading and the lecturer, they both are about organic and traditional grown food. The main difference between them is that the reading tends to support organic food and the lecturer, on the other hand, says that there is no big difference from one to the other.
First, the Reading stated that in the traditionally grown food there are many chemicals used to control pests – which is the first reason why people begin to purchase organic foods. In addition to that, the Reading also explains that organic produce has become quite popular because it is healthier for humans and the environment and you do not run the risk of ingesting chemicals.
In comparison to that, the lecturer says that people started buying organic food because they think that organic products are healthier than traditionally grown food. The lecturer also stated that traditionally grown food contains just a tiny amount of chemicals and that actually that it is not a problem because fruits and vegetables are washed twice before they get to the supermarket and that eliminates almost all of the chemicals; Also, the lecturer says that chemical arent been shown that are bad for people or the environment.
Second, the Reading mention the environmental reasons to buy organic produce wich are: less risk of wáter pollution, less risk of imbalances and disturbances in the surrounding ecosystems and people safety. On the other hand, the lecturer exposes that exists laws to protect water and the environment, that chemical pollution is not very likely to occurred and actually, it doesn't really affect much the environment around it. The lecturer also stated that farms that are not managed properly can affect the environment but that chemicals don't make a huge impact.
To conclude, the Reading supports the idea of choosing organic food and all its benefits; in spite of that, the lecturer explains there is no need to worry about choosing organic food instead of traditionally grown food because they are just the same.
