The passage claims that sending a human to Mars rather than Moon has faced some challenging problems by pointing out three reasons for support. The lecture, on the other hand, states that all the problems mentioned in the passage have a solution and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First of all, the writer goes on to mention that going to the mars and back take almost two years which needs ample supplies of food and water; although, the capacity of the spaceship is limited. On the contrary, the listening rejects this by explaining that astronauts can use some special manner which helps them to cultivate plants in water. Therefore, they should not carry so much food with themselves and the plants can also absorb carbon dioxide and bring oxygen and they have fresh air.
Furthermore, the reading argues that spending many months is zero-gravity situation decrease muscle mass and lower bone density. Conversely, the lecture supports an opposite view as compared to that presented in the passage; she describes that there are some spaceships that orbiting around the earth for many months in zero-gravity. There are several techniques to face this challenge; such as using vitamins like calcium which slows the rate of decrease in bones density down.
Finally, the author explains that outside of the Earth's atmosphere there are dangerous levels of space radiation that astronauts should interact with. The speaker, in contrast, refutes this view and illustrates the idea that the spaceship will not be exposed to the radiations all the time. Dangerous radiations occur occasionally and could be faced by some equipment that works until the dangerous situations passed.
