The Salton Sea
The article and the lecture are both about The Salton Sea. While the article's author thinks that there are some methods we can use to solve the problem of lake's saltieness, the lecturer in the listening pessage opposes the author's claims. She believes that these techniques are ineffective and unrealistic.
First, the reading starts by stating that using desalination, we can take off the salt from the lake's water. The professor disagrees with this viewpoint. she mentions that this process will left toxic chimecal meterials that can lead to health problems if humans breath them.
Second, the author suggests that we can reduse the salt amount in the lake by adding sea water from the ocean. On the other hand, the professor points out that this strategy will need to a massive expenses that government can not provide.
Finally, the article states that we divide the lake by builde walls. The lectuere thinks that there are flaws in the author's argument. She holds that these walls would not be efficient, because they can fall down if any earthquick happend.
