a specific painting, including portrait of a woman's face, attributed to Rembrandt
Both lecture and passage discuss a specific painting, including portrait of a woman's face, attributed to Rembrandt, the most famous painters during seventeenth century. The passage talks about some properties of this painting considered as evidences showing this cannot be Rembrandt's work. In the opposite, even though the professor proves the properties mentioned in the passage, but she states that more examination of the painting and its properties justify truth of thinking about this painting done by Rembrandt. She explains the connection between these properties and the work of Rembrandt.
Firstly, both of the lecture and the passage state that the dressing way of woman in the portrait is unusual without proper details. The professor claims that the x-ray examination of painting pigments shows that some new color have covered the original paint several years after the time when painting had done. This examination shows that someone made the cloth of woman portrayed in painting unusual maybe in order to increase the value of it. In fact, in the original painting, the cloth is common with considering all details.
Secondly, the passage there are some contrasts related to light and its following shadows that cannot be made such painting by Rembrandt. Oppositely, the professor mention the removing of simple color of woman's drees in the painting and destroying the original shadow of painting. She states that in the original one, every things related to light and shadows were correct.
The passage says that the panel on which the painting was painted, made by several pieces of wood glued together in the opposite of Rembrandt's painting painted on a single woody panel. The lecture asserts that the original painting was painted on a single wood which is the same with those tree used by Rembrandt to paint almost. This panel with some extra wood in sides and top is related to the time of adding colors in order to make the painting more valuable.
In sum, the passage uses the properties found on paint to illustrate that this specific painting cannot be belong to Rembrandt, in contrast, the professor states that more exact examinations show that the original painting is exact like the Rembrandt's work and attributing this to Rembrandt is true.
