Summarize the point made in the lecture and explain how the speaker cast doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
Sea otters decline in population around north america west coast have different explanation. In the passage is supported pollution as the principal cause, however, on the lecture is discussed predation as the real mayor cause.
According to the passage, pollution is the most possible cause to the decline in sea otters population due to the effect of chemicals in the otters body and environment. In contrast, the professor points out that investigations proves that the decrease in population is consequence of predator and not from pollution, also exposes that there is not evidence of death animal found on the sea.
The reading implies that pollution affects the whole environment, so predators cannot cause the decrease of the sea otters population and orcas do not eat otter due to its size. However, in the lecture explain that orcas may had change his diet and stared hunting small animal, such as sea otters, because his natural food began to be hunted by humans.
Finally, the passage supports the uneven decline with environmental conditions who create different places of pollution concentrations, but the professor refutes this idea because this pattern is consequence of the presence of orcas in different areas.
