Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they respond to the specific points made in the reading passage. theories have been proposed to explain the origin of the Voynich manuscript
The reading and lecture are both about the origin of the Voynich manuscript, which is the handwritten book. The author of reading believes that there are some theories that show the root of this book, but the professor is of the opinion that these hypotheses which each of them related to a person are wrong.
First of all, the author suggests that the manuscript is a magical book that wrote by secret code because the Ascham's book has information about a medicinal book that can prove this statement. This idea is challenged by the lecture. He says that this opinion is not true about Ascham, because he was just an ordinary physician that his books had original ideas. Furthermore, he argues that the subject that mentioned in the reading is about common plants based on well-known sources, consequently, according to what we know about Ascham it is unlikely he created a book by secret code.
Secondly, the writer contends that the manuscript is a fake book and has no real meaning. The article notes, this script wrote by Edward Kelley because he wanted to a wealthy noble, so he invented the book to show his magical powers, thus he used an alphabet in a random structure to confuse a reader. The lecture, however, rebuts this by asserting that it is inconceivable that this book was made by Kelley because the people of the sixteenth-century were a fool and was not necessary to create the complex book. He elaborates on this by mentioning that if Edward wanted to reach his goal, he could write a simpler book than the Voynich manuscript.
Finally, it is stated in the article that the manuscript is the modern false, which produced by Voynich himself. The reading establishes that he had a lot of information about the old manuscript, as a result, he made the fake book to sell the as mysterious book. The lecture, on the other hand, posits that nowadays, we able to determine to date the manuscript substances. Besides, he mentions that Voynich might get vellum pages from some old manuscript, but how he could get the ink because it is at least 400 years old.
