TOEFL T P O 28 Integrated Writing Task

The reading and the lecture are both about Robert E.Peary explore the North Pole in 1909. The Author of the reading gave three explanation points about Possibility of his trip. However, lecturer casts doubts on the claims made in the article. He challenges all the reasons provided by explaining that It is not true.

First of all, article states that committee arranged by National Geographic Society proved that Peary's trip was justified after investigation. Furthermore, he says that his trip was consistent because they have records to prove. This claims is challenged by the professor. He states that this investigation committee was formed by his friends so it was a bias result. In Addition he rebuts arguments that investigation was just for two days only so it was not that much persuasive .

Secondly, author contends that he reached to the North Pole in just 37 days. He says that another explorer named Tom Every recently did same trip in less than 37 days with same kind of weight and dogsled. Lecturer oppose this arguments given in article. He suggested that they both have different kind of trips. Furthermore he argues that, Avery had less food and most of his food was transported by aero plane and not only that, the weather was favorable too.

Finally, reading passage states that photographs taken by Pearly, provide strong evidence he reached to north pole. Article states that measuring shadow make it possible to count the surfs position in the sun.
However, professor posits that, the photograph was taken before 100 years ago. Furthermore, he puts forth the idea that Photograph is quite faded and blurry so calculate the distance from photograph is not reliable .
