The Reading and the lecture are both about employees working four days a week instead of the usual time which his five days a week. The author of the reading believes that employees working for four days has more pros than cons. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He thinks this will create more problems for the company, country , and individually.
First of all, the author points out that the company will be more successful if employees works four days a week. It is mentioned that when employees work for four days are likely to cause devastated errors because they will have more time to rest which will result in the increase of their concentration and it will be better since employees will only get paid 80 percent of their salary. This point is challenged by the lecturer. He says that companies will have to spend more in training new employees. Thus, will cost them more in providing the requirements like desks and working vacancies. Furthermore, he argues that companies will have to pay the same amount of insurance whether he/she works four days or five days, so the costs will drastically increase.
Secondly, the author contends that the country would also get more benefits if companies started to apply this system. The articles notes that when companies start to apply the four days policy for those who wants it, will create jobs vacancies for the unemployee which the author stated saying that for every 4 employees wanting to change from five days to four days work will provide a job for one employee. The lecturer rebuts this argument. He suggest that this should not be applied in companies. He elaborates on this point by mentioning that companies will have high expectations from new worker and the mistake they will make will bring misfortune for the company which will only makes the economy getting worse.
