The article and the professor discuss the ways that can control or destroy the cane toad, an amphibian species in Central American forest, in Australia. Although both of them agree that the cane toads are destructive for Australia’s environment, the lecturer challenges the article methods for the annihilation of this species.
The first solution that the article mentions is building national fences around the place that they live. The lecturer argues that young cane toad and toad’s eggs can easily go through these fences by rivers and lakes.
Second, the article illustrates that huge numbers of volunteers can be used to capture and kill these amphibians, whereas the lecturer says that inexpert people can cause extinction on scarce local types of frogs because of the similarities between habitats and Inhabitant amphibian kinds.
The last controversy is on the virus destroying cane toads. The article’s belief is Australian cane toad are eliminated by this virus without any considerable damage. Thus, the professor shows that this kind of virus can cause extinction all the cane toads in the world due to the fact that reptiles and frogs migrant from Australia to Central America, so they can carry the virus among themselves and cause domestic cane toads to die.
