The reading and lecture both present various perspective about a certain specie of organism called the cane toad. The reading further states the ways in which rate of poulation of this organisam can be decreased providing three solutions. However the professor in the lecture refutes the claim made in the reading elaborating on the dis advantages in the reading in the ensuing paragraphs.
First and most important, the reading describes the cane toad as amphibian species which originated from central and south America. The article further states that this organism was introduced into Australia. Presently, the population has increased with provision a national fence to curb the rapid growth rate which will restrict further movement into unsettled area. On the other hand, the lecture challenges this stand point with the assurance that these organisms are mainly present in water and if the water wave is high to a great extent, the tendency of organisms populating the environment is unavoidable.
The second solution as provided by the passage was to terminate the cane toads either by the use of significant traps or by obvious use of hands. Also the eggs can be easily terminated because they kind of thrive in water. Besides this, the professor rebuts the idea that native frogs could be destroyed due to the similarity between between the native and cane toad in early stages.which cam implictly cause extinction of the native toads.
Finally, the reading illustrates that a virus was deliberately injected to reduce the population of the toads which was also applicable in the 20th century. nevertheless, the lecture counters the view of the passage with reference that the implied virus is liable to spread once these organisms return back to their original habitat to theie home and risk the life of other species, endangering the ecological system.
In conclusion, the lecture was effectively capable of challenging the suggestions in the reading, since the professor claims the idea to be unsuccessful and a danger to the environment.
