The reading discusses that the science of archaeology was faced with serious problems and limitations in Britain and the author listed three problems to support this idea. However, the lecturer finds all the reasons dubious and presents some evidence to refute all of them.
First, the author mentioned that worthwhile objects were lost to construction projects. In contrast, the speaker asserts that before starting a construction site, the archaeologists examine the land and evaluate the value of it to decide to preserve it or not, then, the builders are allowed to build. Thus, this opinion is rebutted.
In addition, the author points out that many archaeologists think the financial support for their researches is insufficient. On the contrary, the professor casts doubt on this issue by standing that their financial supports are based on two roles. First, it is paid by the construction companies, and secondly, the whole new source of support for grad.
Last but not least, the reading passage proposes that careers in archaeology are limited. On the other hand, in direct contradiction to the reading, the professor claims that there is a lot of paid work because all the processes do by the archaeologists like evaluation, presentation, research and analyze the data. As a result, they increased the number of jobs. In conclusion, according to the listening material, the argument that archaeologists are confronted with limitations is unwarranted.
