The lecturer and the reading passage discuss Torreya taxifoha trees that become died in Florida. Although the reading passage claims that some possible ways for preventing extension of this tree, the speaker refutes this idea through several reasons which I will describe in this reporter.
First and foremost, the reading points out that reestablish Torreya in the same place as they live would prevent died these trees. The lecturer, in contrast, rejects this by claiming that reestablish Torreya in the same place unlikely successful. A coolest and dampest era is changing. Because climate change effects on them, and they become warmer and dry places. Therefore, it is hard to find a proper location that not change with global effect.
Furthermore, unlike the passage which states that Torreya can cultivate and grow in a different location for preventing died them, the professor argues that this solution is not practical. Consider black local trees that change their location for instance. This tree spread so quickly in the place and started to kill local plants and trees. The black trees cause extend many other types of trees and plants. So it is not a suitable solution.
Finally, although the reading passage says that protecting Torreya in research centers, and these notions help to easily conduct the study and close monitoring of plants. The speaker disagrees by mentioning that the population of Torreya that live in this place are not big. And, they do not resist the disease. Therefore, they need a large place for growing a lot of this tree. Until they can preserve from the disease. So, it is not a proper solution.
