The article discusses mehods to save the Torreya from being extinct and suggests three ways to do it. However, the professor explains that they are inefficiant and rejects each of the methods provided by the author.
First, the reading posits that it can be helpful to reestablish Torreya in the same location in which it thrived before. The professor refutes this point by saying that changes in the earth like global warming, has changed the quality of lands in those areas and it is now drier and has less potential for good growth of these plants.
Second, the article claims that another way to save Torreya is to move them to new places, however the professor contends that this might cause problems to other spices and plants. She illustrates this by giving an example of a black locks tree. She states that humans had moved them to a different location, and as a result, other plants had been badly damaged which acctully was in the dangure of beeing extinct. So this shows that this method can change the ecosystem and put other spices in danger.
Third, the reading avers that another option is to preserve Torreya in research centers. The professor opposes this method by saying that only a small number of population of Torreya can be kept in the research centers because of their low capacity which is not good. According to the professor, it is necceserry to have large amount of geneticly diverse plants to ensure their servivel.
