The article states that nuclear enegry must be replaced with fossil fuels because of its merits and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explainst that the statments of the article are premature and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading posits that the fuel that powers nuclear plants is cheaper compared to the fossil fuels so it could save alot of money. The professor refutes this point by saying that even though the fuel is cheaper but the cost of bulding and maintaining the nuclear power plants are much more and in the long run, more money will be spent for obtaining nuclear power based energy. He also mentions that the emergency measures that have to be considered for using nuclear power cause significant cost.
Second, the article claims that the process of creating nuclear energy is relatively safe, however, the professor contends tha even though there are some safty measures for nuclear power plants but still accedents happen. He provides an example of a power plant in penselveinia to illustrate this point. According to the professor, an accedent happens in a power plant in Penselveynia city and even though no serious damege was done on life the people, but the cost of repairing it was very significant.
Third, the reading averst that the hazardous radioactive waste generated by nuclear power plants can be managed. The lecture opposes this point by saying that in the in the proccess which is explained in the passage the Polotainum 239 is produced which is very dangerous for the species. Also he mentions that not all the high-level waste will be used in the fuel reprocessing operation. Furthermore, the radio active waste should be buried in the ground very deeply and for ligal issuse they area in which they are buried must be without any sevilians so some lands must be remain unused.
