TPO-25 - Integrated Writing Task In 1938 an archaeologist in Iraq acquired a set of clay jars that had been excavated two years earlier by villagers constructing a railroad line. The vessel was about 2,200 years old. Each clay jay contained a copper cylin

In term of whether the vessles were actually used as ancient electric batteries. The reading and lecture both contradictory to each other.

First, the reading states that these vessels were not attached to any conductors. Also they did not found any wire. So these vessels were not used as batteries. On the other hand, the professor refutes this notion by saying that these vessels had been discovered by not archelogists people but, they were local people. So they might be found wire and other suff but, thery throwgh it away because they did not know that these materials are important. Furthermore, they were not interested in these materials.

Second, contrary to the belief in the reading passage that the copper cylinders in the jasrs were matched to copper cylinders at the Seleucia that were used for holding scrolls. So, these might be had the same use. Nevertheless, the professor pointing out that these vessels may be had the same original but, they recognized later that these vessels with vessels and liquid generate electricity. In addition, cylinder copper maybe in the begining used for one purpose and after that adapted to other purposes.

Finally, the article avers that there were not any evidence that the ancient people used these vessels to produce electricity. However, the professor questions this idea by explaining that these vessels may be used to produce sensation. As a result, the might be used these vessels to convience the other people that they have power. Furthermore, in the medical field they used to use these electricty to relief pain or for healing. This is contradicted what is the passage indicated.
