The reading discusses the reasons that caused the Little Ice Age to form, hence, listed three factors to support this idea. However, the speaker finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them.
First, the author mentioned that the Gulf Stream is one of the possible reasons. In the past in one period the weather got warm and it caused glaciers to be melted. In contrast, the speaker rebuts this reason and asserts that scientists knew that disrupting cooling happened only in Europe and North America, while it occurred in the southern hemisphere.
Second, the reading passage points out that the volcanic eruption produces a lot of dark clouds and they blocked the sunlight. On the other hand, the speaker casts doubt on this issue and states that it is true that volcanic eruption put enough gases in the atmosphere, but it largely strikes usually affect some events like colorful sunlight, rainfall, and others. Therefore, the story of realizing the gas not support the decline of the weather temperature.
Last but not least, the author argues that the human population is responsible for this event because when their population decreased, they no longer cut the trees for cultivating, consequently producing the greenhouse gases dropped. On the contrary, the speaker rejects this idea and describes the removing CO2 and HSO4 can not play this role in the atmosphere, though it helped it.
