The passage and lecture both discuss three assumptions around in crazy cold temperature in many parts of the world. The reading section provides three supports to hold up the hypothesis of decreasing temperature during short Ice age. In contrast the professor states that the justifications of text are not convincing and demonstrates three counterarguments.
Firstly, the author posits that before ice age there was warm weather which might cause melting glaciers and lead to fresh water. Therefore, that cold freshwater affects ocean climate. However, the lecture denies this idea and mentions that this event happened only in Europe and North America. But we cannot see this issue in New zealand and South Africa.
Secondly, the article indicates that Volcanic euroption may send Sulfur gas and dark clouds of dust in to air. In other words, these dark played a role of obstacles between Earth and Sun. Consequently, this can decrease the global temperatures. In the contrary, the speaker refutes this and claims that it should have visual effect to be visible for poeple that are around. plus, sonow should be brown instead of seeming white. In fact, ther are no reports of these evidence. So it would not be that much strong.
Thirdly, the reading part claims that decreasing human population affect the forest lands. Since trees grow more and more, as a result the absorb cabon dioxide and it leads to decreasing green house effect which keeps the Earth warm. In contrast, the audio part rejects this and points out that lack of time could not let the forest trees grow because they need long time to rise. For instace, he provided an example of crops and other plants that grow in long terms.
