TPO-29 - Integrated Writing Task Large numbers of dinosaur fossils have been discovered in deposits on Alaska's North Slope, a region that today experiences an extremely cold, arctic climate. One hundred million years ago, when those dinosaurs were alive,

The reading and lecture both discuss about the Edmontosur. Reading suggests that they have migrate for the survival, the lecture refutes this and says it did not migrate from north slope.

First of all, because 100 millions years ago the north pole was full of ice, in order get the food they might had migrated and they are plant eater. However, the lecture counter this point by saying that in the past earth was warmer and 24 hours sunlight was available during those period. So, they had plenty food sources and during winter they might have used surplus food. Further, vegetation was in-favour of they survival, it does not move anywhere for food.

In addition, the passage suggests that there were plenty of skeleton found in south part of earth which confirm that- they live as herd and migrated to south. But, the professor opposes this view by stating that they lived as herd because to get the extra production from the predator. Even, the Yulk now live as herd to escape predator, it does not mean they migrated.

Finally, reading claims that their physical ability allowed them to migrate such long distance-they can cover up more than 1600 kilometres, all it needs to walk at 5 KMH only to migrate and this is use for them to do. Again, the speaker reputes this statement by explaining that juvenile dinosaurs cannot walk that much fast and they always need the mother support which prevents them to move at such a fast, that is highly impossible. Moreover, they have stay in between journey and they settled down wherever it was possible.

To sum up, reading supports that they migrated to south because of the harsh environment, their skeletons found in south area and their physical capability. But, refuses all these point by some evidences.
