In the reading passage, the author claims that there are three viable hypothesises regarding the sourceof quackers, which is a wierd sound which were heared by the sailors in Russian submarines. However, finding all the ideas implausible and questionable, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in the text and states in spite of the fact that the principal reason for such this strange phenomenon is still a contentious issuee, there are serious problems concerning the mentioned theories.
At first, the author argues that the quackers are in fact the ocra whales sound which are in countership ritual. Conversely, the lecturer contend the idea that this assumption() is enterly unlikely. Having lived on the surface of ocean, ocras' sound could not have been detected by the Russian submarines moved deep in ocean. Moreover, if there were some ocras in that area, the sonar would had been able to detect it, but this occurance did not happen nonethelless.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that giant squid would have produced this strange sound. On the other hand, the professor dimisses this idea by claryfing the fact that indeed, the presence of this giant marine invertebrates was endorsed in 1960 for two decades. The problem is the sound disapeared suddenly, while the squids were still living in that rigion. Therefore, if the source of quckers was the squid, it would have been continued thereafter.
Finally, the author asserts that the sound is related to another submarine attributing to different country equiped with technology that had made it undetective. The professor, thought, diputes this point by subsrbing the point that the source of the sound not only moved around the Russian submarin but also alter its direction so rapidly. Furthermore, the engine of the submarine produces noticeable sound. Subsequently, this theory is unconvincing as weel since the submarine that is capable to move with such fast pace with silent engine has not been invented yet.
