In this set of material both of the reading and lecture discuss about old fossil structures related with Dib bees which lived as early as 200 million years ago. These structures are similar to modern nest. The reading provides three reasons that these nests were not created by bees; however the lecture finds all reasons dubious. The information the professor professes contradicts the fact outlined in the text.
First, the author of reading claims that there was not any bee in 200 million years ago and the earliest fossil bees are related with 100 million years ago; however the lecture expresses that there is a spatial kind of resin which is produced by tree and can save the fossil of bees. It is plausible that this kind of resin had not evolved in 200 million years ago, as a result the fossils of bees have not reminded. Just because of we could not find more fossils linked with 200 million years ago, it is not a logical reason that there was any bee in that time.
Second, the article declares that since the bees and flowers have a close relationship with each other and in there was not any flowering plant in 200 million years ago; consequently this date for these fossils are not connected with bees; however the professor refutes it. He believes that when the flowering plants did not existed on the earth, the bees had adapted to non-flowering plants and this close relationship has been stable forever.
Moreover, the reading passage contends that the modern nests are not similar to the found structures; however the lecture professes that chemical evidence which has discovered in these old structures support this similarity. There is a kind of waterproof substance that old bees used in their nest and fortunately the modern bees use it in their nests.
