The reading and the speaker discussing the electronic medical report significant but in very contrast ways.
Firstly, reading passage says the it will reduce the cost since it occupies less storage areas but the paper records required lot of space to sore it. Further, it is used to access for the doctors who want to have medical records and transforming and sending fax, coping are very easier. But, the lecture refutes this point by saying that even though when we made things in electronic form still the paper record is must for the legal purposes and backup and to verify the signature.
Secondly, reading states that it can reduces the errors like manual hand writing and spelling mistakes because it consists of standard font size and format. Still, the speaker refuses this point by stating that the doctors are writing while taking physical examination of the patient, while entering these data by the medical staff hand written data that mistakes are unavoidable .
Finally, reading claims that it is helpful for who do the researcher on certain topics because it easy to get more information the system they need not to go for all paper records, it cost much time whereas electronic records gives all information at anyplace. Again, the professor opposes this point by explaining that all the medical records comes under the privacy policy then, it need a lot of permission from the authority including patients. If, the patient selecting the option of block the information it become more difficulty to access the patient records.
To sum up, Reading suggests that electronic records may be more beneficial because it cost less money, reduces the errors and useful for the researchers but the speaker refutes all these points with reasonable arguments .
