The reading states that Pterosaurs were not a kind of animal which have the capabity to flight. and provide three reason of support. However, the professor assert that Pterosaurs were able to fly and opposes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading explains that Pterosaurs are Cold-blodded animals which are not to provide enough energy for flight . Also only Warm-blooded animal are able to fly. On the contrary, the professor avers that their metabolism are not as it has been thought. She explains that Pterosaurs had dense hair-covering like fur over their body and due to this they were identical to Warm-blood animal. Therefore, they had enough energy to fly.
Next, the readding asserts that Pterosaurs had big body and an importan criteria for flying is a light weight body. Nonetheless, the professor refutes this idea by explainig the anatomic features of these animals. She mentiones that their body had light size. The analysis of Pterosaurs ' bones shows that it is hollow instead of being solid and this feature helped them to have light weight in spite of their big body shape.
Finally, the reading states that animal that are able to flight have high spead and can jump to the air. Nevertheless, the professor cast doubt on this issue by comparing the differences between Pterosaurs and birds. She asserts that Pterosaurs were a kind of animal that had four leg for walking or jumping while the birds have only two 2 leg. Therefore, animal like birds need a high speed for taking off or jumping for flight but 4 leg are enough for Pterosaurs to provide enough speed or have enough support for their boddy size when they come to the ground.
