In this set of materials, in the reading passage discusses that the Pterosaurs that lived aline the period of dinosaurs lived on the Earth. But provide some reasons that these dinosaurs had not the ability of flying. While, in the listening, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in the text and believes that some recent evidence substantiated that Pterosaurs could capability of flying.
First of all, in the text, it is clearly mentioned that these animals were same other reptiles cold-blooded some of them had not the metabolism range that required to support energy needed for flying. However, the professor claims that these animals were typically worm -blooded and they had the faster rate of metabolism which could support flying.
In addition, the professor disagrees with this idea that the high weight of this animals could create the limitation for flying. She points out that, these animals had special anatomic features that decreased significantly their weight. This animals instead of airbornes had hollow bones that led to they became light enough in weight to could fly.
Finally, yet importantly, in the text, it is stated that Pterosaurs could not able to take off from the ground. The professor subscribes that it is true that these animals had not behind legs to help them for taking off but they used four limbs to push them. They trough used this limbs could run fast and jump enough to can fly.
