Recently some controversy has been generated about whether the lines surrounded the skeletal bones of the sykocypotros are feathers or not. The lectures contends that the lines are feathers. On the other hand, the reading refutes saying that the lines are not feathers.
The first point of dispute is if the skin decompose into fibers or not. The lecture claims that all the other animals in the area decomposition were well preserved. The fact that the synoprys feather were well preserved as well. However the reading states that the skins decomposed into fibers, then preserved into lines.
Another controversial issue is if the extra parts of the dinosaurs are feathers or frills. The lecturer says that the chemicals of the frills are totally different from that of the feather the feather contain beta carotene however the frills not. The fact that the synopricts fossils contain the same beta carotene confirm that the lines are feathers not frills. However the reading argues that parts of dinosaur anatomy are frills rather than feathers.
The final point of dispute is if the feathers have any purpose or not. the lecture contents that the colorful feather of the syropex were used to attract male during mate. The fact that they feathers were orange and white proof that they were used for that purpose. But, the reading refutes saying that the feathers were useless. The usual use of the feather were flight and thermoregulation.
