Writing-integrated task-Altruism
Summarize the points made in the lecture you just heard, being sure to specifically explain how they cast doubt on points made in the reading.
In the lecture ,the professor made several points about altruistic sides of sentinel meerkat and people. The professor’s lecture casts doubt on the reading by using a number of points that are contrary to the beliefs of the author of the article.
The fist point that the professor casts doubt on the reading is the altruistic side of the meerkat. According to the recent researches the professor argues that sental mammals aren’t in danger when guarding for predators. He claims that sental meerkants eat before they guard so they are not left hungry as the reading passage states.
Moreover, the professor argues that the sental meerkant is not in danger when looking for predators but in fact ,the other, hunting, meerkants are the ones. Furthermore, the professor argues that the alarm that sental meerkant produces draws attention to the predator and that puts in danger other meerkants, which opposes the writer who claims that this helps other meerkants to run to their shelter.
Next the professor discusses the reading’s points about the altruistic side of people. The listening says that human behaviors are altruists as presented in the reading. The professor says that when donating a kidney to a complete stranger that individual receives an appreciation from the community. So this kind of act is not considered altruistic.
In conclusion, the points made in the lecture contrast with the reading. The recent researches for sental meerkants and the unselfishness of people demonstrate that altruism can sometimes be confused which puts the reading passage in doubt.
