smart cars
The reading claims that smart cars promise to make driving safer, quicker, and less expensive. It provides three reasons of support. In contrast, the professor states that it is not clear that smart cars produce benefits and she refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the article avers that smart cars will prevent many accidents and saving lives. However, the lecturer opposes this point by stating that some accidents will happen. She mentions that some times technology fails and this will allow many cars to compact. In fact, she says that accidents will involve because many cars will be compacted and this will worsen the situation of accidents, so smarts cars will not save drivers' life and alot of injuries will occur. This disputes the first point in the passage.
Second, the passage asserts that with the wide use of smart cars, traffic problems will practically disappear. On the other hand, the professor casts doubt on this point by explaining that this is not true. She states that if we assume that potential increasing speed will decrease the commuting time, but we will notice that more drivers will attracted to drive smart cars and increasing the number of drivers will reduce the commuting time because there will be a lot of cars in the high way. This challenges the second point in the passage.
Third, the article posits that smart cars will bring a reduction in the costs of driving. Conversely, the professor counters this point by saying that this point is not reasonable to save money. According to the professor, global technology will require repairs also and it is so expensive. Actually, she argues that other costy technology will need to fix such as sensors in the cars and advance repairing which costs a lot of money comparing to the conventional repairs or replacement. This appears a contradiction to the information made in the passage.
